Baluch Movement Not An Ideology Anymore ??

Baluch Movement Not An Ideology Anymore??

Heart wrenching and soul tearing incidence in "Ziarat", where insurgents coming down from their hideouts at hill tops and burning to ashes the "National Heritage",  Jinnah's House in Ziarat. Some may argue that in terms of life and money, it was not a bigger a loss but it was very symbolic when it comes to scaring The Soul of the Nation. It was a very clear message from insurgents "BLA"  that they wouldn't settle for any thing less than a freedom and land of their own, targeting "Jinnah's Residence" was a clear message that doors of negotiations are closed or may be they are taking very rigid and stubborn position and want negotiations if there were any, on their own terms and conditions.

In Baluch History there were three insurgencies before this post 2004 , 1942,  Sixties and in Seventies during "Bhutto's Era", so they always remained at odd with the state and fighting for their independence and rights. But the difference between this Movement and previous one is that this one is marred by target killings, kidnappings for ransom, eliminating settlers, bhatta, foreign funding, connections with sectarian organisations etc.

We will focus on this post 2004 wave of insurgency which is threatening the very existence of Pakistan. It all started in Dictator Mushraf era and fuelled by killing of  "Nawab Akber Bughti", who remained at odd with State but never in his life raised the slogan of "Independent Baluchistan", but rather believed in Baluch Rights through democratic struggle.

Lets be fair with previous Zardari regime who tried to settle Baluch issue, Zardari being President Of Pakistan and symbolic Head Of Armed Forces, publicly apologised to Baluch people, assured them of help and support from Federation, announced a Baluchistan package  but unfortunately all his efforts went in vain due to corrupt regime brought in by engineered GE in 2007. Same old corrupt Sardars and Establishment puppets were brought to power corridors, 130 billion rupees funds were given to Baluchistan plus  Baluchistan package,  infect per capita spending on Baluchistan people is higher than rest of Pakistan but unfortunately corrupt mafia looted their resources, crimes of heinous nature like target killings, extortion's, dacoities etc went skyrocketing under the umbrella and political patronisation of sitting provisional Governments. Missing persons issue couldn't be solved by Federal and Provisional Governments, may be because they were head to toe involved in corrupt practises, couldn't dare to ask Questions from mighty bosses so Baluch issue kept lingering on and became complicated .

2013 GE brought a rekindled hope and wiggle that now is the time that this burning issue will be taken head on and solved by the coming Government. A Middle Class Baluch Dr Abdul Malik reached the power corridors for first time in about 400 years of Baluch History, when a non sardar was elected Chief Executive of Baluchistan. Dr Abdul Malik possess an impeccable repute of honesty, educationist, known for democratic struggle and strong believer that Good Governance will automatically solve 50-60% of Baluch problems immediately. He has laid down his priorities very clearly, like  missing persons, good governance and talks with annoyed Baluch rebels sitting on hill tops.

Now question arises when Baluchistan after years of struggle finally got a man as Chief  Executive they were hoping for decades why on earth they would hit out at the very ideology of Pakistan "National Monument" and that too Jinnah's House which runs like blood in every Pakistani??. May be the "BLA" ( Baluchistan Liberation Army)  is not an ideological band any more, taken over by opportunists and thugs, not interested in "Baluch Rights"  rather fighting a proxy war and  their ultimate goal is to destabilise Pakistan, in the mean time the real Baluch Hero's and hundreds of missing persons have been ignored, destroying their own image, credibility of their movement in Pakistan and importantly in the eyes of Pakistani people when they saw the live images of Jinnah Residence being burned down to ashes, actually I think with this act of theirs they have reached the pinnacle because people of Pakistan forgot all those Pakistanis targeted in last few years but this incidence bruised the soul and will definitely leave a deep scar in memory lanes.

Now the pressure is mounting both on Provisional and Federal Government to act against these insurgents and eliminate them at any cost. But issue is not so simple at all, first of all both the Provisional and Federal Governments needs to isolate these criminal elements from the real Baluch Rights activists. Secondly these criminal organisations have got close relations with each other like BLA, TTP, LEJ etc because on the same day LEJ carried out massive terrorist activity, killing College girls, DCO Quetta, FC Personal, Nurses, Pedestrians who were caught in the cross fire. So Government needs to work on multi prong strategy and time has come to deal with these criminals with iron hands. International community giving refuge and asylum to these insurgents must be taken to task as well, countries like Dubai, Switzerland, UK etc must be talked firmly and a straight forward message be given, regarding Pakistan priorities. Similar Sectarian violence sponsored by so called brotherly Islamic countries,  candid talks  should be held and National interest must be watched rather personal relations.

Responsibility of Federal Government , as after very gracious and warm gesture by Mian Nawaz Sharif of handing over the Baluch Provisional Government to a Baluch Nationalist despite having the numbers in Assembly has increased many folds, above all ignoring a Sardar in his party has gone well with Baluch Public in General and was much appreciated across the country. Now Mian Nawaz Sharif should take this missing persons issue head on, talk to General Kiyani, Agencies that enough is enough, no more missing persons and criminals must be caught, go through proper  law procedure rather missing for years, their families must be given right of a legal battle, even if they were involved in criminal activities, due process of law should take its course and followed. Immediate necessary amendments in constitution to tackle these terrorists and a counter terrorism force should be organised to counter their criminal activities, both USA post 9/11 ans UK post 7/9 established well organised and well equipped counter terrorism units. It seems Federal Government interested in talks with these organisations yes talks must be held and should be carried on but Government must  remember talks from a position of a weakness wouldn't be successful rather give time to these criminals elements to gain strength.

Finally Baluch must be talked that if these western countries can solve their issues then countries like Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan etc should have enlisted themselves in the list of prosperous Nations rather still be struggling to cope with internal rifts, sectarian violence, bomb blasts, decaying infrastructure, struggling economies, power struggle etc. Secondly it is almost impossible for Western or for that matter any other Nation to help them get their freedom from Nuclear Armed Pakistan. Only way forward is that these "Sardars" get their house in order, leave their luxurious lives in Western World, come back to Pakistan to lead a peaceful democratic and rightful struggle of theirs. They must immediately disassociates themselves from Western Powers and their proxies in Pakistan. They should immediately identify the criminal elements within their ranks involved in target killings, kidnappings for ransom, smuggling, dacoities etc. They must immediately abandoned the support of banned organisations in Baluchistan. They will find whole Pakistan Nation standing besides them as Federal Government has already shown their willingness to address the Baluch issue by handing over Provisional Government to a Middle Class Baluch National, if now "Sardars" wouldn't sort out their differences, get rid of internal rifts and above all wouldn't let a middle class Baluch rule  Baluchistan, then they themselves are to be blamed, they wouldn't be able to target Punjab and agencies because both  are willing to co-operate, bury the hatchet, move forward to a Better, Stable Baluchistan, ruled and Governed by Baluch people.

It is time to act quickly as opposition is hell bent, not giving any honey moon period to PML(N). We people are hooked to easy life like narcotics and not willing to mend our ways, always looking for miracles.
